Message of the Head of the Department of Applied Cell Sciences
Department of Applied Cell Sciences offers a Ph.D. program, which promises to educate and train students who will be scholarly leaders in the field of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, and they will be highly knowledgeable about the theoretical and practical approaches that can be applied in the development of methodologies to alleviate numerous pathologies that are not curable with conventional strategies. The scientific branch aims to highlight the regenerative potential of various cell types from different sources. The elucidation of mechanisms in stem cell biology – tissue stem cells and their application for regenerative therapies, trans-differentiation into mature cell-types, isolation of normal and cancerous stem cells, and stem cell signaling pathways – is at the center of attention at the Department of Applied Cell Sciences. Our priority is to train the next generation of stem cell biologists and physicians who are well-educated in the regenerative medicine disciplines. Several researchers on the faculty have developed a novel basic science curriculum that covers both education and research for 4 years. In the curriculum of Applied Cell Sciences, students have dedicated research time starting late in the second year, with full-time research to the end of the course. This approach provides sufficient time for the Ph.D. student to do meaningful research with the collaboration of faculty and affiliated research centers at the Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. We encourage all students to find our education and research opportunities in our faculty.
